Theres just something about Sam Allardyce that I don’t like, I didn’t like him at Bolton and I like him even less at Blackburn. Perhaps it’s his ability to give it right to Arsenal with his no nonsense, straight forward approach to games.
Allardyce breeds a hard work ethic in his teams, closing down, tackling hard and giving no quarter and when they went one up today against Arsenal, I thought, as probably every other Arsenal supporter did…” Here we go again..”, Arsene and Arsenal had a differing opinion and now, 6 goals later, it seems the commentators are all of the opinion that there is no way Arsenal can finish outside the top 4.
I beg to differ. That’s the frustration supporting Arsenal. One week…brilliant, the next week awful. I recall last season, beating Manchester Utd at Old Trafford, then beating Chelsea….then losing to Hull and Stoke… You sort of stop having any expectations when you watch Arsenal as home bankers can turn into Home Disasters and tough away games turn into brilliant, swash buckling performances.
But today, Arsenal were excellent. Sublime. Thomas Vermaelen…what a player. Van Persie, great goal but stupid foul. Overall, well played Arsene. A nice way to start your 14th record breaking year at the club. The Trophy cabinet is looking a little bare though so perhaps time for some new silverware?
